LONDON, United Kingdom – 16 November, 2006 – Innovative Systems Incorporated, a leading provider of regulatory compliance solutions, announced today the upcoming seminar, “Implementing the Third EU Money Laundering Directive” to be held 23 November at the Threadneedles Hotel in London. Executives of financial services institutions will learn about new regulatory requirements and how technology solutions can be successfully employed to help their institutions achieve compliance. The seminar is the second in a series hosted by Innovative Systems Incorporated and World-Check that brings together industry executives and thought leaders to advance understanding on how institutions can most effectively comply with new and changing regulatory requirements. |
The European Commission adopted the Third Directive in 2005 to unify anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing regulations across Europe, in accordance with recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), based in Paris, France. The 25 member countries of the European Union must incorporate the new standards into national law by December 2007. The Third Directive for the first time introduces risk-based approaches for customer due diligence measures, which include the identification and verification of customers, determining the intended nature of the business relationship, and the ongoing monitoring of relationships. |
As a result of the increased emphasis placed upon customer due diligence, the seminar will address the critical requirements for sanctions list and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) screening, to provide valuable guidance on how financial services firms can reliably implement risk-based screening processes for their large volumes of client data across numerous touch-points. |
